RBS~InStore is an integrated web-based retail system designed for central management and control of the network of terminals, devices and channels that make up the retail estate. Functionally rich software, including estate management, store back office and point of service applications are delivered using a wide variety of configurations and user interfaces to meet specific business requirements, hardware and networking needs.



RBS~InStore utilises application servers to provide an inherently open and scalable technology platform. These centralised services host the delivery of RBS~InStore applications and ensure that a consistent set of data structures and business processes are maintained in one central location for management and distribution throughout the store estate.

The central part of RBS’s approach to configuration, management and administration is embodied in the Estate Manager product which was written with the explicit purpose of reducing the overhead of administering large networks of store-based and other devices in a retail network. Estate Manager offers a wide variety of easy-to-use configuration, management and administration facilities through its browser-based user interface.

At the heart of RBS~InStore is a sophisticated messaging system that replicates sales and inventory transactions around the store network giving users access to trading performance wherever they are. Estate Manager consolidates sales and inventory information and transfers the data to other enterprise applications enabling rapid replenishment, while flash reports can be viewed from any device capable of running a browser.
